Update, 1:45 p.m. In a prepared statement, Berkeley police said they had responded to the 1300 block of Gilman Street on Monday shortly before 8:30 a.m. after a resident found a bullet hole in the floor of their apartment.
Responding officers found the bullet hole and “determined that the incident likely occurred the previous evening,” BPD said.
When officers tried to speak with the resident believed to have fired the gun, they ultimately determined he wasn’t home.
Just after 1:40 p.m., BPD confirmed no one had been hurt in the incident and said there was “no threat to public safety at this time. The investigation remains ongoing and will be forwarded to detectives for further follow-up.”
