After a days-long search involving sonar, drones and divers, authorities recovered a body from Lake Anza on Saturday afternoon.
Divers working with the Alameda County sheriff’s office located the body just after 2 p.m. and prepared to pull it from the water.
The Contra Costa County coroner’s office will take over the case.
The team began working to locate the body earlier this week after a UC Berkeley graduate student went missing.
Saketh Sreenivasaiah’s personal effects were found close to the lake and in the Park Hills neighborhood nearby.
Authorities had not definitively identified the body as of publication time.
Access to the lake and surrounding trail were largely closed to the public during Saturday’s operation, which involved the East Bay Regional Park District, Berkeley police and the Alameda County sheriff’s office.
Stay tuned for additional details.
