Berkeley police are looking for two people who discharged a fire extinguisher during a scooter robbery near campus Sunday, authorities report.
The robbery happened just before 2:50 p.m. near Dwight Way and Hillegass Avenue in the Southside neighborhood, and was quickly reported, according to a crime alert from UC Berkeley.
Police say the victim was riding an electric scooter when two strangers approached.
One of them “discharged a fire extinguisher at the victim, then stole their scooter before fleeing the area,” the University of California Police Department said.
They also took a cellphone, police said after publication.
The robbers were described only as “male”; no other descriptors were provided.
The investigation is ongoing.
