UC Berkeley authorities have asked people to shelter in place due to a police search near the Haas School of Business on Tuesday.

The Haas School of Business is located at 2220 Piedmont Ave. on the east side of campus between Optometry Lane and Stadium Rim Way.
UC Berkeley police initially sent out a notice via its WarnMe app shortly after 3 p.m.
“Police activity near Haas School of Business. Avoid the Area until further notice,” it read.
A second notice, identified as a “Critical Alert,” followed at 3:25 p.m.
“Continue to avoid the area of Haas School of Business. Police are searching the Haas School of Business and surrounding buildings, including Cheit Hall and Chou Hall. Secure in place immediately if you are inside the buildings. Monitor official university alerts.”
No other details have been shared but police say an update is forthcoming.
Due to police radio encryption, it was not possible to determine via public records anything about what type of incident might be underway.
