Oakland quake felt in Berkeley

A magnitude 3.9 earthquake in Oakland shook Berkeley on Thursday morning, according to early reports.

The quake’s epicenter was in San Leandro on Calandria Avenue near Interstate 580.

It was recorded at 8:30 a.m. with a depth of 3.2 miles, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The earthquake originally registered as magnitude 4.1 but was downgraded after review.

Writing on the UC Berkeley Reddit, one person said they felt “Side to side strong rocking in my part of Berkeley, but nothing fell over.”

Another described it as “A mild shake.”
